WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State men's basketball finalized its 2026-27 roster with the signing of Desmeon "NuNu" Jones to a financial aid agreement Wednesday morning.

Jones makes the transition to Wichita State after spending his freshman year in the junior college ranks at Blinn College.

"We are excited to add a player of Desmeon's caliber to our roster," said Wichita State head men's basketball coach Paul Mills. "He has proven himself to be one of the best point guards in the junior college ranks during the 2026 season. He led his team in assists, steals, free throws made and free throws attempted while also finishing second on his team in scoring. His ability to attack the rim while also creating opportunities for his teammates really jumped out to our staff as we watched him play. He makes an immediate impact on both ends of the court due to his quickness. Desmeon is a winner."

In his first season of collegiate basketball, Jones started all 31 games for Blinn, averaging 12.4 points, 4.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals a game. He scored 10 or more points in 26 of the 31 games, while dishing out multiple assists in every game. Jones led the Region 14 in assists and ranked second in steals. He scored a season high 22 points on Dec. 10 at Lamar State College, dished out a season-high eight assists on Feb. 28 at Bossier Parish CC and swiped a season-best six steals at Lee College on Jan. 21.

Jones is a native of Dallas, Texas where he attended Lancaster High School, the same school the also produced current Shocker Dillon Battie. The two helped Lancaster win a Class 5A state title.
