A New Era
  • Wichita State women's tennis began its first dual season under head coach Jacob Eddins, who was named the ninth head coach in program history on Sept. 15, 2025. The Eddins era began with a 4-0 win over Texas State on Jan. 17 in Norman, Okla.
  • Eddins came to Wichita from Illinois, where he served as associate head coach for two seasons, compiling 32 dual-match wins and earning two bids to the NCAA Tournament.
  • Eddins' stint with Wichita State is his first as a head coach.
  • Eddins became the fifth Shocker head coach to earn a win in his debut all-time and improved the record of Shocker head coaches in their debuts to 5-4.
  • Eddins earned both his first head coaching win at home and over a Power Four conference opponent with a 4-2 victory over SMU on Monday, Jan. 19.
Sunday Recap
  • Wichita State dominated Tulane in a 4-0 victory last Sunday at Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.
  • The Shockers won doubles with victories at No. 2 by Theodora Chantava and Kristina Kudryavtseva and at No. 1 by Xin Tong Wang and Giorgia Roselli.
  • In singles, the Shockers pressed on, winning five first sets.
  • Roselli, Kudryavtseva and Vichitraporn Vimuktananda secured straight-set victories to give the Shockers the 4-0 win.
  •  Roselli and Vimuktananda earned their seventh consecutive wins in singles, each improving to 8-1.
In the Rankings
  • Wang and Roselli were ranked No. 9 in doubles in the Feb. 19 ITA rankings, the highest ranking by any doubles pairing in program history. They moved up 15 spots from their end-of-fall rankings and 22 from their pre-fall rankings.
  • In addition, Wang returned to the rankings in singles, sliding in at No. 113. It's her 13th time being ranked in singles in her career, which is third-most in Shocker history.
  • Wichita State made its season debut in the ITA rankings at No. 24 on Feb. 19, the highest ranking for the team since 2016.
Doubles Champions
  • Wang and Roselli won the 2025 American Conference Doubles Championship on Oct. 26, earning a bid to the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championship, where they finished fourth.
  • The pair faced a total of nine ranked opponents in the fall season, posting a 4-5 record.
  • For their fall efforts, Wang and Roselli earned an ITA doubles ranking of No. 24, up seven spots from their preseason ranking of No. 31.
  • The ranking was the fifth-highest achieved by a Shocker doubles pair in program history.
Remnants of the Past
  • Wichita State finished 13-10 last season, reaching a national ranking as high as No. 47, and ending the year ranked No. 60.
  • The Shockers return 95.1% of their dual match win production from last season and added an experienced transfer in Vichitraporn Vimuktananda.
  • Seven Shockers have at least two years of playing experience. Five are academic seniors or graduate students.
  • The five Wichita State seniors are the most on a roster for the Shockers since the 2019-20 season, when they had seven.
Doubles is the Key
  • In matches where Wichita State won the doubles point last season, the Shockers went 11-2, with the only losses coming against No. 47/46 Charlotte and Washington State.
  • When the Shockers lost the doubles point, they went just 2-8.
  • This season, the Shockers are 8-1 when winning the doubles point, and 1-2 when they don't.
Oral Roberts Notes
  • Oral Roberts is in its first season under new director of tennis Jason Speegle.
  • The Golden Eagles are 2-8 on the season with wins over St. Joseph's and Collin County.
  • Oral Roberts comes to Wichita after losing 4-0 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday.
  • The Golden Eagles are winless on the season in true road matches with a record of 0-4. 
Series History vs. Oral Roberts
  • Wichita State has a commanding 26-7 lead in the all-time series with Oral Roberts.
  • The Shockers have not lost to the Golden Eagles since a 6-3 defeat on Sept. 28, 1985.
  • Wichita State has won the last 20 meetings with Oral Roberts.
  • The Shockers defeated Oral Roberts in last year's meeting on Feb. 5, 2025, 7-0. Wichita State lost just one set across doubles and singles in the match.
  • The team have each of the last five seasons.
