Heatherly and Wilson Named to American Honor Roll

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State volleyball student-athletes Jordan Heatherly and Maddie Wilson have both been named to the American Conference Honor Roll for their performances at the BYU Nike Invitational. Heatherly had one of the best weeks by an American setter, while Wilson put together one of the top defensive efforts.

The Shockers finished the tournament 2-1 with wins over Incarnate Word and Northern Colorado and a loss to No. 18 BYU.

Heatherly, a junior setter from Western Springs, Ill., averaged 9.77 assists, 0.77 kills, 0.31 service aces, 1.62 digs and 0.54 blocks per set, while guiding the team to a .230 attack percentage. She also earned all-tournament team honors.

In the win over Incarnate Word, she had a double-double with 50 assists and 11 digs, while adding five kills, three service aces and a block. In the loss to No. 18 BYU, she had 30 assists, four digs and three blocks and in the win over Northern Colorado, she finished with 47 assists, five kills, one service ace, six digs and three blocks.

Wilson, a redshirt junior middle blocker from Colorado Springs, Colo., averaged 1.55 blocks, 0.36 digs, 1.82 kills and 0.18 service aces per set.

In the win over Incarnate Word, she had five blocks, two digs and four kills and in the loss to No. 18 BYU she finished with three blocks and two kills. In the win over Northern Colorado, she just missed a double-double with nine blocks and 14 kills, while hitting .379. She also added two service aces.

The Shockers are next in action Sept. 11-12 at the Golden Eagle Invitational in Cookeville, Tenn. WSU takes on Radford and host Tennessee Tech on Sept. 11 and finishes the tourney with Samford on Sept. 12.
