WICHITA, Kan. — Driven by a lifelong passion for Wichita State Athletics — and Shocker Men's Basketball in particular — Tony and Sherl Weatherbee are stepping forward with a heartfelt gift that reflects both their love of the Shockers and their commitment to Wichita.

Inspired by Shane and Kianne Prill and Rick and Barbara Hemphill's recent generosity, the Weatherbee's have purchased and donated 50 season tickets for the 2025–26 Wichita State Men's Basketball season. These tickets will be distributed by community organizations, including United Way affiliates, veterans' groups, and Stand Together, giving more Wichita-area residents the opportunity to experience the energy and tradition of Shocker basketball at Charles Koch Arena.

For the Weatherbee's, this act is about more than just tickets — it's about being part of the solution. They intend for their investment to bring new fans into the stands and inspire others across Wichita to join the movement - by purchasing tickets in bulk, and allowing Shocker Athletics to collaborate on distribution with charitable organizations and community partners.

"Shocker basketball has been a lifelong passion of ours," said Tony Weatherbee. "We want to see it return to the level we all know it can be — and we believe part of that solution is investing in our community and inviting others to do the same. The Prill's and Hemphill's lit the spark, and we knew we wanted to join this important initiative right away."

The impact of this gift goes far beyond game day. Hundreds of mentor-mentee pairs, veterans, and local youth will share meaningful experiences inside the arena — strengthening relationships, inspiring dreams, and connecting the next generation to the enduring spirit of Shocker Nation.

"This comes from a place of genuine love for Wichita State and for this community," said Sherl Weatherbee. "We're encouraging others to join us. I've been attending men's basketball games for 69 years and we BLEED black and yellow! This is about truly being Shocker FaithFULL, lifting each other up, showing up for our kids, and ensuring Shocker basketball continues to grow, unite and inspire."
