Matt Braeuer SFA
Matt Braeuer (middle)
Matt Braeuer, former Wichita State point guard, joins the podcast to talk about his new job as head coach at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Braeuer, who played for the Shockers from 2004-08, discusses why SFA is a traditionally successful program, Lumberjack traditions and his new personnel. He weighs in on quarter-zips vs. a suit for sideline wear and coaching mentors.

We wrap up with Shocker memories ranging from the shot vs. Creighton on Valentine's Day to winning at Syracuse to his thoughts on P.J. Couisnard as assistant coach at WSU.

Braeuer was hired as basketball coach at Stephen F. Austin in March. He spent the previous two seasons as an assistant at Texas Tech with Grant McCasland. He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Wichita State under coach Gregg Marshall and also worked for Mark Turgeon as video coordinator at Maryland and as an assistant for Earl Grant at College of Charleston.

He played in the 2006 NCAA Tournament and the NIT in 2005. He started at guard three seasons and averaged a career-high 12 points as a senior, led the Shockers in assists (3.3 per game) in 2007 and was a regular on the athletic director's honor roll. He ranks among WSU's career leaders in three-pointers, and assists.
