Shockers Swept by No. 59 Tulsa, Sweep Oral Roberts to Split Doubleheader

TULSA, Okla. – The Wichita State men's tennis team split their doubleheader on Sunday, falling to No. 59 Tulsa, 4-0, before beating Oral Roberts 4-0 later in the day.
 
The split on the day made the Shockers 11-10 on the season.

In doubles, Tulsa took command, jumping out to big early leads that they cashed in to win the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Alejandro Jacome and Arenui Luethi at court one and a 6-2 win over Kristof Minarik and Ilias Worthington at court two.
 
In singles, the Golden Hurricane swept up the Shockers, turning four first-set wins into three singles victories.
 
Minarik was the first to fall, losing 6-1, 6-4 to No. 116 Alex Okonkwo at court one.
 
Jacome was the next to be defeated, dropping another 6-1, 6-4 decision at court two.
 
Tulsa locked up the win with a tight 7-5, 6-3 win at court five over Amir Milushev, clinching and ending the match with a 4-0 score.

In doubles against ORU, a quick 6-0 win by Minarik and Bracks gave the Shockers the advantage, but the Golden Eagles bounced back with a 6-1 win at court one over Hodzic and Jacome.
 
Despite the loss at the top court, Wichita State held firm with a dominant 6-1 win at court three by Milushev and Zaid Al Mashni, clinching the doubles point.
 
In singles, the Shockers kept rolling, winning the first set on five of six courts. 
 
Minarik won first with a swift 6-2, 6-0 win at court one.
 
Jacome followed up quickly with a 6-3, 6-0 victory to put the Shockers up 3-0.
 
Luethi delivered the clinch, winning 6-4, 6-1 at court six to end the match with a 4-0 victory for Wichita State.
 
Next up, the Shockers travel to Stillwater, Okla., to take on Oklahoma State at 5:30 PM on April 9 at Greenwood Tennis Center.
