WICHITA – Wichita State head women's basketball coach
Terry Nooner announced the addition of forward Sophie Benharouga to the 2025-26 roster Tuesday afternoon.
Â
"We're excited to welcome Sophie to Shocker Nation," Nooner said. "She's a versatile forward with a great skill set, high basketball IQ, and the ability to score at all three levels."
Â
The graduate transfer from Grenoble, France joins the Shockers after stops at Hartford, Morehead State, North Texas, and most recently Seattle U.
Â
The Grenoble, France native appeared in 10 games last season for the Redhawks, averaging 8.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game with a season-high 17 points in their win over Evergreen State and a season-high 10 boards in their win over CSU Bakersfield.
Â
As a junior at Morehead State in 2022-23, Benharouga played in 31 games, getting 16 starts. She averaged 8.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Eagles, recording two double-doubles including a career-high 19 points and 13 rebounds against Eastern Illinois.
Â
"Her passing and feel for the game really stand out, and she's the kind of gym rat every coach loves," Nooner said. "Our fans are going to appreciate her passion, work ethic, and the energy she brings every time she steps on the floor."
