IRVING, Texas – The Wichita State women's team was slotted as the No. 5 seed in the upcoming American Athletic Conference Championship when the conference office announced the seeding on Monday afternoon.
The Shockers are set to play 12-seed East Carolina on Thursday at noon CT in Memphis at Leftwich Tennis Center. With a win, the Shockers would advance to the quarterfinals to play the winner of 13-seed Temple and 4-seed No. 52 Tulsa. The quarterfinal match will be on Friday at noon in Memphis.
The 5-seed for the Shockers is their highest seed since 2023, where they lost to 4-seed Tulsa in the opening round, 4-0.
At last year's AAC Championship, the Shockers were the 7-seed, beating 10-seed Tulsa in the first round, 4-0, before falling to 2-seed No. 43 Charlotte 4-3 in the quarterfinal.
Since joining the conference for the 2018 season, the Shockers have a record of 3-6 at the AAC Championship.
