NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Wichita State opened the first game of the American Athletic Conference schedule with four consecutive extra-base hits and never looked back on their way to a 10-4 win over Tulane on Friday night at Turchin Stadium.
The Shockers (8-13, 1-0) put together an early barrage against Tulane starter Luc Fladda (1-2), getting doubles from
Camden Johnson,
Mauricio Millan and
Jordan Rogers before
Josh Livingston skied a two-run homer for a 4-0 lead just 14 pitches into the game.
Livingston added his second homer of the game in the third inning, followed by consecutive doubles from
Jaden Gustafson and
Gannon Snyder for a 6-0 lead.
That was plenty of support for Wichita State starter
Grant Adler (2-1), who allowed just three hits and three runs over seven innings while striking out seven. He gave up a two-run homer to Connor Rasmussen in the third inning and a solo shot to Michael Lombardi in the sixth, but ended his outing retiring 12 of the final 13 Green Wave hitters.
Wichita State made things comfortable down the stretch with a three-run top of the seventh inning, churning out an RBI single from
Lane Haworth, run-scoring double from
Ryan Callahan and sacrifice fly from
Camden Johnson. The Shockers hit a season-high six doubles and two home runs in a game for the first time in 2025.
Aaron Arnold worked the final two innings out of the Shocker bullpen, conceding a run in the eighth before polishing off a 1-2-3 ninth.
Camden Johnson led the Shockers offensively with three hits in four at-bats. He also picked up one of the two WSU stolen bases, along with
Kam Durnin.
The Shockers and Green Wave continue the series on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm CT.
