WICHITA, Kan. – After a 3-0 week that saw them take down two ranked opponents, the Wichita State women's tennis team was ranked No. 47 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) computer rankings on Tuesday morning.
The No. 47 ranking for the Shockers is the highest the team has been ranked since March 19, 2019, when they were ranked No. 44. The previous high for the team since 2019 was No. 55, which came last season on March 19.
Among the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers sit in as the third highest ranked team behind Florida Atlantic (27) and Rice (42). Other AAC teams in the rankings are Tulsa (48), Charlotte (61), Tulane (68), and UTSA (74).
In singles, WSU's
Xin Tong Wang kept her ranking streak alive, coming in at No. 120. She is one of only two players to be ranked in singles in the AAC, joined by Tulsa's Maria Berlanga Bandera who is No. 65.
In doubles, Wang and
Giorgia Roselli are ranked No. 66, the second Shocker doubles pair to be ranked at any point this season. The ranking is the highest for any Shocker doubles team since January 13, 2021, when Marta Belluco and Sandra Honigova were ranked No. 23.
The Shockers have a record 9-6 on the year and have won three matches in a row. The next match for Wichita State is Wednesday at 9:00 AM CT in Tampa, Fla., against South Florida.
