IRVING, Texas – Wichita State women's tennis player
Giorgia Roselli was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
This is the first Player of the Week honor for Roselli, a sophomore from Pescara, Italy, in her Shocker career.
Â
Roselli had an excellent performance on the court for the Shockers this week. She went a combined 5-0 across singles and doubles, including a perfect 3-0 doubles mark with partner
Xin Tong Wang. On Thursday against Louisiana Tech, Roselli delivered the clinch at line two singles to pair with an earlier clinch of the doubles point in the match. Roselli has won five of her last seven singles decisions and five of her last six doubles decisions, all paired with Wang. Her performance guided the Shockers to a 3-0 week as a team, with two wins over ranked opponents in No. 66 Princeton and No. 61 Tulane.
Â
Additionally, Roselli and Wang were ranked as the No. 66 doubles pairing in NCAA Division I in Tuesday's ITA doubles rankings.
Â
Roselli is the second Shocker this year to be named AAC Player of the Week, joining her doubles partner Wang who earned the distinction back on February 4.
Â
Roselli will look to continue her winning streak on Wednesday, when the Shockers meet the South Florida Bulls in Tampa, Fla., on Wednesday at 9:00 AM CT.
