WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State women's tennis team was ranked No. 75 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in Tuesday's computer rankings.
The Shockers' lone match this week was a 4-1 home loss to the then No. 51 Iowa Hawkeyes on Monday afternoon. The Hawkeyes were ranked No. 60 in Tuesday's rankings.
Among the nine total opponents WSU has played this year, seven of them are currently ranked, with the Shockers going 2-5 against those teams. The wins are over currently ranked No. 73 Kansas State and No. 56 Kentucky, and the losses came against No. 12 Oklahoma, No. 37 Nebraska, No. 39 Washington State, No. 42 Kansas, and No. 60 Iowa.
Among the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers are one of six ranked teams in the AAC, joined by No. 22 Florida Atlantic, No. 58 Tulsa, No. 59 Rice, No. 64 Tulane, and No. 68 UTSA.
The Shockers sit at 4-5 on the year. Their next match is on Saturday, March 1, at Abilene Christian at noon CT.
