WICHITA, Kan. – After a 4-4 start to the 2025 season, the Wichita State women's tennis team has been ranked No. 65 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in the first ITA Top 75 computer ranking of the year.
This is the earliest the Shockers have appeared in the ITA Computer Rankings in a season since 2017, when they were ranked No. 35 on February 21, 2017.
Wichita State earned the ranking on the back of a three-match long win streak, which was most recently extended with a win over Kentucky on February 7. The Wildcats are also in the rankings, just behind WSU at No. 67.
The four teams that have beaten Wichita State this season are all ranked in the top 50. Oklahoma is No. 12, Kansas is No. 30, Nebraska is No. 36, and Washington State is No. 45
WSU is one of five teams from the AAC to appear in this week's poll, with UTSA (11-0) being ranked the highest at No. 44. Other AAC teams ranked are Rice (48), Florida Atlantic (50), and UAB (68).
In the individual rankings, Wichita State's
Xin Tong Wang is ranked No. 117 in singles, keeping her two-month long ranked streak alive.
The Shockers are back in action at home on Monday for a ranked clash with No. 51 Iowa on Monday, February 24 at 11:00 AM CT at Genesis Rock Road.
