Wichita State hosts Tulane at 7 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 24 and North Texas at 1 p.m. on Sun., Oct. 26. Both matches are inside Charles Koch Arena.

SCENE SETTERS    
•Wichita State is coming off a 1-1 weekend after defeating UTSA in four sets on Friday and losing in five sets at Rice on Sunday.
•WSU leads the series with Tulane 8-6.
•Wichita State leads the series with North Texas 11-6.
•Middle blocker Allie Paulsen is the American Defensive Player of the Week.
•Redshirt senior right side hitter Brooklyn Leggett has a streak of 11 matches with 10 or more kills. She collected her 500th kill as a Shocker in the Oct. 19 match at Rice.
•Sophomore outside hitter Nadia Wasilewski will be celebrating her birthday on game day vs. North Texas on October 26. 
•The Shockers finished the non-conference portion of their schedule with an 8-4 record. 
•WSU had 2,681 fans in attendance at the Kansas match on Sept. 16. It was the largest home attendance since 2023.
•The Shockers tied a program record by allowing just four points in the first set against Tennessee Tech on Sept. 11.
•The Shockers are coming off an 18-14 season in 2024 that culminated in a dominant run to the American Conference Tournament championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. 
•The Shockers appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the 12th time overall and the first since 2017.
•The Shockers were picked third in the American Conference preseason poll. Rice was tabbed as the conference's preseason favorite, garnering nine first place votes to South Florida's four. Brooklyn Leggett was named preseason all-conference.
•Wichita State returns three starters and the libero from the 2024 team including senior outside hitters Brooklyn Leggett and Emerson Wilford, junior middle blocker Maddie Wilson and senior libero Katie Galligan. 
•Head coach Chris Lamb is in his 26th season at the helm of the Shockers. Known affectionately as "Lambo," the veteran head coach owns a career record of 539-257, good for a .678 winning percentage and the most wins in the American Conference.

PROMOTIONS    
•On October 24 vs. Tulane, it's Ladies Night in the Roundhouse. The first 300 fans receive a free T-shirt courtesy of Koch.
•On October 26 vs. North Texas, it's Monster Match and Team Day. Fans are encouraged to wear costumes and the first 150 kids receive a "Fear the Wheat" trick or treat canvas bag. There will also be post match trick or treating with the volleyball team.

WEEKEND RECAP    
•The Shockers defeated UTSA 3-1 on Friday and lost to Rice 2-3 on Sunday.
•At UTSA, the Shockers won by scores of 25-18, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-17. Brooklyn Leggett led the Shockers with 15 kills, while Jordan Heatherly had 31 assists and Katie Galligan had 18 digs.
•At Rice, the Owls won by scores of 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 20-25 and 15-10. Sydney Dunning led the Shockers with 19 kills, while Jordan Heatherly had 29 assists and Grace Hett had 22 digs.
•In the two matches, Dunning averaged 3.44 kills per set, while Leggett averaged 3.11 kills per set.

SHOCKS IN THE NCAA STATS    
•In the October 22 NCAA stat report, the Shockers are ranked 52nd in assists per set, 84th in digs per set, 79th in hitting percentage, 41st in kills per set, 90th in match win-loss percentage, 34th in team assists, 77th in team attacks per set, 71st in team digs, 29th in team kills, 97th in team service aces and 74th in team total attacks.
•Individually, Jordan Heatherly is 80th in total assists, Sydney Dunning is 71st in points, 78th in total attacks and 69th in total kills, Maddie Wilson is 60th in blocks per set and 28th in total blocks and Gabi Maas is 84th in digs per set.

RPI UPDATE    
•The third RPI report of the season was released on October 20. The Shockers are 70th, while Tulane is 190 and North Texas 104.
•South Florida is the top American team at 41, while the American has six teams in the top-100.
•WSU is 0-6 against the top-50.

PAULSEN NAMED DPOW    
•Wichita State middle blocker Allie Paulsen has been named the American Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 13-19.
•Paulsen, a redshirt sophomore from Wichita, averaged 1.78 blocks per set, 0.22 digs per set, and 1.67 kills per set, while hitting .444 in two matches last week for the Shockers.
•In the four-set win at UTSA, she just missed a double-double with a career-high 10 blocks and a career-high nine kills. She hit .438 in the win, while also adding two digs.
•In the five-set loss at conference-leading Rice, she finished with six blocks, six kills and hit .455.

LAST 11 FOR BROOKLYN    
•The Shockers are 7-4 in their last 11 matches and during that span Brooklyn Leggett has averaged 3.33 kills per set and 1.09 blocks per set, while hitting .275. She has a streak of 11-straight matches with 10 or more kills. 

WSU-TULANE SERIES    
•Wichita State leads the overall series with Tulane, 8-6. The Shockers lead the series in Wichita, 3-1. Head Coach Chris Lamb is 8-5 against the Green Wave.
•The last meeting between the two teams was Nov. 10, 2024 in New Orleans, La., with the Shockers winning 3-0.
•In that meeting, the Shockers won by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-21.
•Morgan Stout led the Shockers with 18 kills, while Izzi Strand had 40 assists and Katie Galligan had 23 digs.

SCOUTING THE GREEN WAVE    
•Tulane is 9-10 overall this season and 1-7 in the American with wins over Sam Houston, Lamar, Louisiana Tech, Southern, Southeastern Louisiana, New Orleans, Providence, Alabama State and Temple and losses to McNeese State, Southern Illinois, South Alabama, Memphis, Charlotte, East Carolina, North Texas, South Florida, Rice and UAB.
•Avery Burks leads the Green Wave with 4.34 kills per set, while Zoe Rachow averages 7.71 assists per set and Dayla Ortiz averages 3.77 digs per set.
•Tulane finished 14-14 in 2024 and 6-10 in the American.
•Head coach Jordana Price is in her fourth season with Tulane.

WSU-NORTH TEXAS SERIES    
•Wichita State leads the overall series with North Texas, 11-6. The Shockers lead the series in Wichita, 5-2. Head Coach Chris Lamb is 7-5 against the Mean Green.  
•The last meeting between the two teams was Nov. 15, 2024 in Denton, Texas, with the Mean Green winning 3-2.
•In that meeting, the Mean Green won by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 26-24, 13-25 and 15-9.
•Maddie Wilson led the Shockers with 16 kills, while Izzi Strand had 54 assists and Katie Galligan had 18 digs.

SCOUTING THE MEAN GREEN    
•North Texas is 15-5 overall this season and 5-3 in the American with wins over Little Rock twice, Providence, East Texas A&M, Stetson, Northwestern State, UT Arlington, Louisiana Tech, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Tarleton State, UAB, UTSA, Tulane, ECU and Memphis and losses to Drake, Miami (FL), Charlotte, Florida Atlantic and South Florida.
•Reagan Bedell leads the Mean Green with 3.16 kills per set, while Alexa Washington averages 5.70 assists per set and Dakota Mitchell averages 3.49 digs per set.
•UNT finished 10-18 in 2024 and 7-9 in the American.
•Head coach Dave Fleming is in his first season with North Texas.

ACES FOR DUNNING    
•Junior outside hitter Sydney Dunning set a career-high with seven service aces against Memphis on Oct. 10.
•It was the most aces by a Shocker since Sara Younes had seven against Bradley on Oct. 29, 2004.

CAREER-HIGHS    
•The Shockers had five players with career-highs over the weekend.
•Sydney Dunning had a career-high four block assists at UTSA on Oct. 17.
•Grace Hett had a career-high six assists at UTSA on Oct. 17 and at Rice on Oct. 19 and a career-high 22 digs at Rice on Oct. 19.
•McKenzie Jones had a career-high 11 kills and 25 attack attempts at Rice on Oct. 19 and hit a career-best .400 at UTSA on Oct. 17
•Sarah Musial had a career-high two service aces at UTSA on Oct. 17.
•Allie Paulsen had a career-high nine kills and 10 blocks at UTSA on Oct. 17 and a career-high two solo blocks at Rice on Oct. 19.
