WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State used 19 kills from
Sydney Dunning to defeat UAB, 3-1. The Shockers (12-6, 4-2) won by scores of 25-14, 21-25, 25-23 and 25-13.

Dunning hit .395 in the match and just missed a double-double with nine digs.
Brooklyn Leggett added 12 kills and
Maddie Wilson had 11 kills, while hitting .526.
Jordan Heatherly led the Shockers with 30 assists and
Emerson Wilford added nine digs.

The first set went back and forth until a 5-0 run put the Shockers in front 10-5. The Blazers answered with a 3-0 run to cut it to 10-8, but a 6-0 run put WSU up 16-8. A Dunning kill pushed the lead to 20-11 and a Wilford kill brought the Shockers to set point at 24-14. The Shockers won it 25-14 on a service ace from
Sarah Musial.

The Blazers raced out to a 10-6 lead in the second set and pushed it to 14-8 after a kill from Abby Jones. The Shockers cut it to 17-15 after a UAB hitting error, but the Blazers went on to win the set 25-21.

Behind the serving of Dunning and
Grace Hett, the Shockers jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the third set. The Blazers kept chipping away at the lead and pulled within 22-21. The Shockers used two kills from Leggett down the stretch to win the set 25-23.

In the fourth set, the Shockers took an early 8-3 lead and pushed it to 18-9 after a kill from Wilford. A
McKenzie Jones kill put WSU up 20-11 and a Dunning kill closed out the match 25-13.
