Shockers Ink Three During Fall Signing Period
Â
WICHITA – Wichita State head coach
Terry Nooner announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent Saturday morning.
Â
Princess Anderson, Kyleigh Ortiz and Kiyleyah Parr are set to join the Shocker basketball team for the 2024-25 season.
Â
"My staff and I are very pleased with our first signing class," Nooner said. "We addressed what we feel will be huge need areas in the backcourt, while adding dynamic speed, playmaking, defense, and scoring. And more importantly, we added great people, who are winners and love to work and be in the gym."
Coach Nooner on the signees:
Princess Anderson – Guard – Beaumont, Texas – Pratt CC
"Princess Anderson is a dynamic scorer who will bring a huge scoring punch to our backcourt. As a freshman at Pratt, she led the country in overall points for the season, and she is a versatile scorer who can score at every level. Not only is Princess is big time scorer, but she is also a lockdown defender on the ball and uses her speed and quickness to be disruptive on defense. It's a special day you can add an All-American to your roster!"
Â
Kyleigh Ortiz – Guard – Kansas, Okla. – Coffeyville CC
"Kyleigh Ortiz is one of the best pure shooters in the country, and my favorite part about her shooting is that she can shoot it from deep! Kyleigh is a true leader, a gym rat, and a winner—she is the type of player that we will have to beg to leave the gym. Kyleigh has an incredible basketball IQ, but most importantly, Kyleigh is one of the nicest, most genuine people you will ever meet. She will bring a terrific presence and work ethic to our locker room!"
Â
Kiyleyah Parr – Guard – Waco, Texas – La Vega HS
"Kiyleyah "KP" Parr holds a special place in my heart because she is the first high school player who committed to play for us. KP is a relentless competitor and floor general who can dominate the game without scoring; her ability to create steals and turnovers, take charges, make plays and create shots for her teammates, and her vocal leadership is at an elite level. She has an infectious personality and is always talking to her teammates, which I love. KP never backs down from any challenge and is a proven winner in the state of Texas, leading her La Vega High School team to the 4A State championship last season, while being named MVP. "
Â
"Shocker Nation will truly love watching these three young ladies play the game, as they play the right way, they play with passion, and they are leaders on and off the court," Nooner said.
