WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State men's tennis team lost at home to the 34th ranked UCF Knights on Friday afternoon at Genesis Rock Road.

The Shockers (3-10) have now dropped back-to-back contests and UCF (12-1) has won five matches in a row.

The Shockers competed hard in doubles, but the 34th ranked Knights would prevail, winning 6-2 at court two and 6-4 at court one to take the opening point.

In singles,
Vanja Hodzic was the first to fall, dropping a competitive match at court three, 7-5, 6-3.

Luke Bracks fell next at court five, 6-1, 6-2, increasing UCF's lead to 3-0.

WSU's
Misha Kvantaliani battled to victory at court two, winning 7-6 (7), 6-2 to keep the Shockers alive and give hope to a comeback.

The comeback was not to be, as
Ziwen Ju was defeated at court six, 6-4, 6
-3, clinching and ending the match in favor of UCF, 4-1.

Marcelo Sepulveda's match at court four ended unfinished in the third set and
Alejandro Jacome's match at court one ended unfinished near the end of a tight second set.

The Shockers will next head on the road for a long spell of matches, beginning with a match on Tuesday, March 12 against UNC-Wilmington, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
