MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The 58th ranked Wichita State women's tennis team fell short against the 46th ranked Memphis Tigers on Easter Sunday at Leftwich Tennis Center, 4-2.

The Shockers (10-7) have now lost three in a row, while Memphis (14-6) wins their fifth straight.

"We had a really good response to a disappointing day yesterday," Head Coach
Colin Foster said. "We responded with a very consistent and competitive effort and came up just short against an NCAA tournament level team on their courts."

The Shockers took doubles in swift fashion from the Tigers with wins at courts one and two.
Jessica Anzo and
Kristina Kudryavtseva struck first with a dominant 6-1 win at the top court and
Natsumi Kurahashi and
Xin Tong Wang finished the job at court two to give the Shockers the doubles point.

In singles, the Tigers would tie the match up quickly with a swift, 6-1, 6-0 win over Kurahashi at court two.

30 minutes later, Memphis took the match advantage with a defeat of
Xin Tong Wang in straight sets, 6-4, 7- at court one.

Later on, Roselli would tie match back at 2-2 with a 6
-4, 6-4 win at court six, but Kudryavtseva would fall almost simultaneously at court four, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, to put Memphis up 3-2.

Alice Amendola would deliver the knockout punch for Memphis at court five, coming from behind to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, clinching and ending the match for Memphis, 4-2.

"Despite the loss, I'm really encouraged and glad we were able to flush Saturday's loss quickly and get better as a result of it,"Â said Foster.

The Shockers return home to host a doubleheader on Monday, April 8. The Shockers will play Tulsa at 1:00 PM and UMKC later in the day with a scheduled start time of 5:00 PM.
