The Wichita State women's tennis team is set to head back on the road, this time to Tulsa, Oklahoma to battle the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles on February 2 at 2:00 PM.
 
SHOCKER NOTES
  • The 2024 campaign for the Shockers will be their 15th under the guidance of Head Coach Colin Foster.
  • The Shockers (2-2) enter the match after suffering a loss at home to Kansas State last Friday, 2-5.
  • Wichita State is 2-1 on the road so far this season.
  • The Shocker roster is made up of five returners and three international additions in Giorgia Roselli, Anne Knuettel, and Xin Tong Wang.
  • The Shockers are coming off their first season with a winning record since 2018-19
  • In the fall, freshman Wang advanced to the semifinals of both singles and doubles at the Fighting Illini open in Champaign, Illinois on Nov. 9
  • In team action in the fall, Roselli and sophomore Kristina Kudryavtseva tied for the team lead in singles wins with five each.
  • In doubles, the duo of Theodora Chantava and Clara Whitaker totaled the most doubles wins in the fall with four.
  • Chantava leads the team in total wins so far this year with four.
SERIES HISTORY
  • In the all-time series between the teams, Wichita State is a dominant 24-7.
  • The Shockers have won 18 consecutive matches in the series dating back to March 8, 1986.
  • WSU is 11-4 playing at ORU.
  • In the last ten matchups, the Shockers have outscored ORU, 55-1.
  • Wichita State's last loss in the series came on September 28, 1985 where they lost 3-6.
  • This will be the fourth straight year the teams have met.
LAST TIME VS ORAL ROBERTS
  • The teams met last season on January 22, 2023 where the Shockers won 7-0.
  • The Shockers did not lose a set on route to their sweeping victory.
  • WSU dominated doubles, outscoring the Golden Eagles 12-1 to take the point.
GOLDEN EAGLE SCOUTING
  • The Golden Eagles finished 7-12 last season and went 4-3 in Summit League play.
  • ORU was 4-6 at home last season.

The Shockers will take a week off of match action, before heading back on the road to Lexington, Kentucky to face the Kentucky Wildcats on February 9 at 12:00 PM.
