CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Wichita State women's tennis team travels to the Queen City for a pair of dual matches against Cincinnati (Friday) and Xavier (Saturday).
Â
The Shockers (9-8) are coming off back-to-back home wins over South Dakota and Omaha in which they captured 13 out of 14 possible points.
Â
"This is a chance to build on positive results from last weekend," head coach
Colin Foster said. "Obviously, going back out on the road will be a challenge against two formidable opponents, but we just want to keep improving, getting stronger and competing hard. The results will take care of themselves."
Â
With rain and high winds in the forecast, Friday's contest against Cincinnati (6-11) has been preemptively pushed indoors to the Western Athletic Club. First serve is scheduled for Noon CT and live scoring will be available via statbroadcast.
Â
The Bearcats swept two meetings last year -- including a first-round matchup in the American Athletic Conference Championship – to even the all-time series at 2-2.
Â
The Shockers will also be indoors for Saturday's 4 p.m. CT match against Xavier (8-6) at Eastern Hills Tennis Club. Live streaming video will available from all six courts.
Â
WSU swept this Cincinnati swing three years ago – less than a week before the COVID-19 shutdown – edging the Bearcats 4-3 and the Musketeers by a 5-2 count.
