BOCA RATON, Fla. -- No. 62 Wichita State opened its spring break road trip with a 6-1 setback at Florida Atlantic on Tuesday afternoon at the Strauss Tennis Center.

Hours after earning their first ITA national ranking since 2019, the Shockers (7-6) fell behind early and never recovered.

Harriet Hamilton grabbed a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles to secure the lone WSU point.

FAU won two to of the three doubles matches to stake a 1-0 lead and carried that momentum into singles with five first-set wins.

Natsumi Kurahashi was the only Shocker to go longer than two sets, falling 10-4 in a super tiebreaker at No. 2 singles.

The Shockers continue their road swing Thursday against South Florida (11 a.m. CT) and Sunday at Tulane (Noon CT).
