SAN DIEGO – San Diego State scored all three of its runs in the second inning, and it proved to be enough Thursday night in a 3-2 win over Wichita State.

Sydney McKinney had three of Wichita State's five hits on the night, upping her average to .810 this season. She is 17-for-21 with a home run, three doubles and 12 runs scored through six games.

Lauren Lucas drove in the only other run on an RBI double and Lauren Mills extended her hit streak to six with a single.

Alison Cooper (2-1) took the tough luck loss. After a tough second inning, Cooper settled in and allowed only two baserunners the rest of the game. She allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out two.

San Diego State took advantage of some Wichita State mental lapses and four base hits to plate all three of its runs in the bottom of the second.

McKinney responded in the next half inning with a solo home run to get Wichita State on the board. The Shockers would cut it to one in the top of the sixth on an RBI double from Lucas, but that would be it for the Shocker offense on the night.
