Two Shockers went undefeated in singles on the weekend and the Shockers defeated Florida Gulf Coast University to open play on Friday evening.

Head Coach Darragh Glavin was pleased with his team's play in the Sunshine State this weekend.

"It was a great weekend of competitive matches to finish our fall season," said Glavin. "We played tough and saw a lot of growth from the beginning of the fall semester to now."

The Shockers went 1-2 in duel play on the weekend. They defeated Florida Gulf Coast (FGCU) on day one 6-1, then fell on Saturday 3-4 to Virginia Tech, and finally 3-4 to Purdue on Sunday.

"It was a great event run by the Bonita Bay Club," said Glavin. "Our guys got to have a great experience and play some tough competition and will help us greatly going into the spring."

Sophomore Alejandro Jacome and junior Kristof Minarik each went a perfect 3-0 in their singles matches on the weekend.

"Kristof and Alejandro's results this weekend shows they are playing some great tennis and will us as a team a lot of confidence going into our spring season" said Glavin.

Coach Glavin was highly satisfied by his team's performance at Bonita Bay and throughout the entire fall season.

"Our fall season as a whole was a success, and we have a lot to build off of going into the spring," said Glavin. "We now have a few weeks to work on some things and get ready and excited for our spring season to begin."

As mentioned by coach Glavin, the Shockers will get some rest before their regular season begins in January.
