FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Wichita State men's tennis team hits the road one more time before its home-opener, taking on Arkansas in Fayetteville on Friday.
Â
The Shockers (2-2) split their opening weekend, picking up wins over Grand Canyon and Bryant and falling to Illinois and Arizona State.
Â
The Razorbacks (2-0) opened their spring season with back-to-back wins at San Diego State and UC San Diego, and their No. 60-ranked doubles pair of Adrien Burdet and Alan Sau Franco went 1-0 at court two. The same duo defeated
Kristof Minarik and
Alex Richards in the ITA Central Region Championships in October, so the Shocker pair could have the opportunity to even the score.
Â
Minarik and Richards went 2-1 at court one in their opening weekend, defeating Bryant's No. 1 doubles team, 6-1, and Illinois's, 6-4.
Â
Alejandro Jacome is undefeated after his first four singles matches as a Shocker, winning three matches at No. 4 and one at No. 3., while
Orel Ovil looks to open his senior campaign in singles after being out the first four matches. Ovil has already faced a Razorback and won when he defeated Jake Sweeney in the consolation semifinal of the ITA Central Region Championships.
Â
The match begins at noon at the Billingsley Tennis Center. Fans can
watch the match or follow along with the
live results.
