FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oregon scored seven of its 10 runs with two outs to claim a 10-2 win in five innings over Wichita State in the opening round of the NCAA Fayetteville Regional Friday night.
Wichita State (33-17) will now play Princeton Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in an elimination game. The winner will then play the loser of Arkansas and Oregon immediately after the 3:30 game.
Addison Barnard crushed her NCAA-leading 33rd home run of the season, delivering the lone RBI's for Wichita State.
Lauren Lucas added a triple and
Wylie Glover doubled, singled and scored a run.
Sydney McKinney extended her hit streak to 16 with a 1-for-3 night at the plate.
Caitlin Bingham (12-5) allowed six runs, four earned, on five hits in 3.0 innings.
Erin McDonald threw the final 2.0 innings, allowing four runs.
With two outs in the second, Oregon delivered the opening blow with a three-run home run following a walk and infield single.
Barnard then cut it to 3-2 following her third inning blast.
Oregon would add a run in the bottom of the third before blowing it open in the fourth behind a five-run inning. The Ducks scored all five runs in the frame with two outs, including a three-run home run and solo home run.
The first batter in the bottom of the fifth sent the fourth home run of the game over the wall in left to secure the walk-off win.
