Wichita State had just two baserunners through the first 4.1 innings, neither of them via hit. Herring finally broke up the no-hitter with a single and then Nelson followed with a single of her own. The very next batter, an Oklahoma State throwing error on a Glover sac bunt attempt put the Shockers in the scoring column, making it 2-1. Sydney McKinney and
Addison Barnard both struck out to end the inning.
A run in the sixth and seventh for Oklahoma State gave them some breathing room, up 4-1. One last rally came in the bottom of the seventh with two outs. Nelson and Glover both singled and McKinney reached on another OSU error to load the bases for Barnard. On the first pitch Barnard hit a sharp grounder to short that was bobbled, but they were able to get the force out at third to end the game.
