LINCOLN, Neb. – A seven-run bottom of the fifth propelled Wichita State to a 7-1 win over South Dakota State Saturday afternoon at Bowlin Stadium.

Entering the bottom of the fifth, Wichita State still trailed 1-0 and had yet to record a hit. That changed in a big way. The Shockers blew the game open with a seven-spot on six hits. The scoring started on a two-run double from Lucas to give the Shockers a 2-1 lead. Garcia, the very next batter, singled up the middle to plate two more, making it 4-1.
After a pitching change, McKinney roped a single to left-center to increase the lead to four. Jones capped the scoring on a two-run double down the right field line to give Wichita State a 7-1 cushion.
