NORMAN, Okla. – No. 1 Oklahoma used a six-run third inning to take down Wichita State in five innings, 10-1, Tuesday night at Marita Hynes Field.
Sydney McKinney (2-for-3) and
Lauren Mills were the lone Shockers to record a hit in the contest. McKinney now has multiple hits in 17 of the team's 27 games this season.
Caitlin Bingham got the start in the circle and allowed seven runs on seven hits and five walks in 2.2 innings.
Erin McDonald threw the final 1.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks.
McKinney led off the top of the first with a single and eventually came around to score on an OU fielding error off the bat of
Neleigh Herring. Wichita State's lead didn't make it past the leadoff spot thanks to a solo home run. Another solo shot in the bottom of the first gave the Sooners a 2-1 lead.
Oklahoma's high-powered offense blew the game open in the bottom of the third behind six runs.
The Sooners walked it off in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run home run.
