LINCOLN, Neb. – The Wichita State women's tennis team got a strong performances from the lower half of the lineup in a 5-2 win over Creighton, Saturday afternoon at the University of Nebraska's Dillon Tennis Center.
The Shockers (4-2) took the doubles point and added singles wins on courts 2, 4, 5 and 6 to run their dual match winning streak over Creighton (3-2) to 17-straight.
Freshman
Clara Whitaker moved up to the No. 4 spot and improved to 6-0 in spring duals with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Playing in her hometown,
Bianca Rademacher made short work of her No. 5 singles opponent, dropping just one game over two sets.
Harriet Hamilton won her team-best 13
th singles match of the season and improved to 5-1 this spring with a 6-2, 6-0 sweep at No. 6.
LingWei Kong also won in straight-sets at No. 2 singles.
Dohee Lee retired with a 6-3, 1-6, 2-1 lead at No. 3, accounting for one of the two Creighton points.
The other came at No. 1 singles.
WSU won doubles matches on courts 1 and 3. The pairing of Kong and
Natsumi Kurahashi remain unbeaten at the top-spot (4-0) after a securing a 6-4 victory.
The Shockers will stick around for a Sunday dual against Nebraska. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
