SHOCKER NOTES:
  • WSU is 2-0 at home this year after sweeping a double-header against Saint Louis and Newman back on Jan. 22.
  • The Shockers split a paif of matches last weekend in Lincoln, Neb., defeating Creighton (5-2) before falling to Nebraska on Sunday (6-1).
  • WSU doesn't play a conference regular season schedule in women's tennis, but its home slate is chalked full of American Athletic Conference rivals. Tulane is the first of seven that will appear in Wichita over the next two months.
  • Freshman Clara Whitaker – a graduate of Wichita's Kapaun Mt. Carmel -- has won all seven of her singles matches this spring while splitting time between the Nos. 4-6 spots.
  • Whitaker's start is the best by a Shocker to a spring season since 2018 when Sandra Honigova opened with eight-straight wins while playing at the Nos. 2-4 positions.
  • Natsumi Kurahashi and LingWei Kong (both 4-3) have winning records atop the lineup at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, and are 4-1 together at No. 1 doubles.

  • FAU opened with six-straight road matches before winning its home-opener last weekend against FGCU.
  • FAU reached the CUSA semifinals last year as a No. 5 seed and earned back-to-back runner-up finishes at the event in 2018 and 2019.
