JONESBORO, Ark. -- The Wichita State volleyball team rallied from behind to defeat host Arkansas State (17-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-18, 15-8) in the final match of the A-State Invite.

Knotted at 8-8 in the decisive fifth set, WSU (3-0) reeled off seven straight points to stay unbeaten.
Natalie Foster sparked the run with a solo block and two kills, including the clincher.

The match came in stark contrast to Friday when the Shockers swept both Missouri State and UT Martin.

Kailin Newsome posted her first double-double as a Shocker with 17 kills and 10 digs.
Sophia Rohling and
Brylee Kelly added 13 and 10 kills, respectively.

Lily Liekweg (who was named tournament MVP) tallied a team-high 17 digs, while sophomore setter
Kayce Litzau made her season debut and finished with 40 assists and 13 digs.

The Shockers outhit A-State (1-2) by a count of .211 to .143.

For the Red Wolves, Macey Putt (23 kills, 10 digs) and Paulina Sobolewska (10 kills, 11 digs) led the way.
In addition to Liekweg, Kelly and Newsome were also among the seven-player all-tournament team.

WSU returns to action Sep. 3-4, at the SDSU Invite in Brookings, S.D. The Shockers open Friday against California Baptist (1 p.m.) and Montana (5 p.m.) then take on host South Dakota State at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

First Set: ASU, 25-17
A-State used a 7-1 run to go up 11-5 and remained in control the rest of the set. The Shockers managed just eight kills compared to five attack errors. Putt supplied seven kills and Brianna Hollingshed added four kills on six swings for the Red Wolves, who combined to hit .256.

Second Set: WSU, 25-19
Litzau made her season debut late in the first set, and sparked the Shockers to an early 7-2 lead to start the second. A-State briefly moved in front, 15-14, but the Shockers reeled off six-straight points behind Litzau's serving. Rohling contributed five kills, and WSU ratcheted up its defense, holding A-State to a .000 hitting percentage (eight errors against eight kills).

Third Set: A-State, 25-19
The Red Wolves scored the first eight points of the set and cruised the rest of the way.

Fourth Set: WSU, 25-18
The Shockers seemed headed for a repeat performance after falling into a 4-0 hole, but this time they battled back quickly. Litzau served the Shockers to a 7-0 run and 18-9 lead. Newsome supplied five kills in the set.

Fifth Set: WSU, 15-8
The Shockers scored the final seven points to secure the victory.
Morgan Stout's solo block broke an 8-all tie. With Liekweg serving, WSU went to work padding its lead. Kelly, Foster, Litzau and Newsome all supplied kills during the landslide that followed.
