Shockers Add to Signing Class
WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State women's basketball head coach
Keitha Adams announced the signing of two international student-athletes to her recruiting class Monday afternoon.
Melissa Secchiaroli and Tanya Platonova will join the program for the upcoming 2021-22 season, adding to a recruiting class that includes Fall signees: Ella Anciaux, Jane Asinde, Nhug Bosch and Jayze'lee Waihi.
Melissa Secchiaroli | Vaucluse, France | 5'10" | Forward
Melissa Secchiaroli is one of five international student-athletes in this recruiting class. The Vaucluse, France, native attended Louis et Auguste Lumière in Lyon, France. Secchiaroli competed in several French National tournaments throughout her career. She is the daughter of Daniel and Samia Secchiaroli, and has one brother Noa and one sister Alycia. She plans to major in sport management at Wichita State.
Tanya Platonova | Moscow, Russia | 5'7" | Guard
Tanya Platonova is the first student-athlete from Russia to join the Shockers under Coach Adams. She averaged 12.4 points, 7.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 5.1 steals in her final season at Izmailovskaya. During the 2019-20 season, she helped her team to a 39-3 record, which included a second-place finish at the Russian Championships. In 2017-18, she was named the MVP of the Moscow Championship. Platonova helped Izmailovskaya win the Moscow Championship three times during her career. She is the daughter of Konstantin and Elena Platonova, and has one brother Alexey.
