ORLANDO, Fla. - Wichita State women's tennis ended its season at the The American Women's Tennis Championship with a loss to second seeded No. 40 SMU, 4-0, at the USTA National Campus on Friday.
 
Doubles
In their final match together, the senior duo of Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva and Marta Bellucco picked up their third ranked win of the season by dispatching the 67th ranked SMU duo of Jackie Nylander/Hadley Doyle, 6-2. The Mustangs ended up winning the point, however, with wins at 2 and 3.
 
Singles
The teams played to clinch and the Shockers couldn't hold on long enough for some of the courts to attempt comebacks. Marta played well in her regular spot at No. 2, having won her first set, 6-3. She ended up losing the second and was up one point in the third set when play ended.
 
Natsumi Kurahashi forced a third set after winning a 7-5 decision in the second, but she never began the final set.  Ting-Ya Hsu was also up in the second set after falling in the first when play was suspended, 6-4, 3-5.
