ORLANDO, Fla. - No. 33/32 Wichita State men's tennis couldn't upset top seeded No. 11 UCF in the semifinals of the AAC Men's Tennis Championships, losing 4-0 at the USTA National Campus.
 
Doubles
The Shockers couldn't get any momentum on the bottom courts. The Knights got a sweep at No. 3 and Orel Ovil and Luka Mrsic lost a more competitive 6-4 decision. The top court featured two of the conference's top doubles teams and a Knight duo seeking revenge from a loss in the last meeting. Neither team was able to get vindication, as they were forced to go unfinished.
 
Singles
The Shockers lost in straight sets at Nos. 3, 4, and 5 to end the match early. Murkel was in a similar situation to his last bout with No. 7 Gabriel Decamps. Decamps won the first set and the second set was tight, but the two couldn't go the distance this time around.
 
Marius was also in a tight match with Alan Rubio at No. 2. Rubio won the first set in a tiebreak and the second set was split when play stopped, 7-6 (7-3), 3-3. Luka was able to get to a third set after losing the first set versus Mikhail Sokolovskiy at No. 6, 6-4, 3-6, 1-1.

The regular season for the Shockers has concluded. The team has put together a 15-8 record that included five ranked wins and other high-quality victories sprinkled throughout. They are well positioned for the team's first NCAA bid since 2016. The NCAA Division I men's tennis selection show is on May 3 at 5:30 p.m., CT. The show will be streamed on NCAA.com.
