WICHITA, Kan. - Shocker women's tennis heads down to Tulsa, Okla. for match versus Oral Roberts on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Bernice Duke Tennis Center, and AAC foe Tulsa on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Case Tennis Center.
Shocker Notables
- The senior duo of Marta Bellucco and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva came in at No. 23 in the ITA Preseason Doubles Rankings. The long-delayed updates to the rankings the duo drop out. They are currently 10-4 on the season and have a ranked win over Arizona State's No. 50 Ilze Hattingh/Lauryn John-Baptiste.
- Freshman Jessie Zheng leads the Shockers in singles wins with an 8-6 record at No. 4 and 5. Three other Shockers have five wins on the season.
- The duo of Ting-ya Hsu and Jessie Zheng have been productive at the second doubles spot, going 8-5 on the season.
Scouting the Competition
Oral Roberts (2-7)
- The Golden Eagles broke a five-match skid this week by sweeping Southwestern.
- The Shockers hold a 21-7 all-time advantage over ORU. The teams last met in 2016 with a 4-0 WSU win.
Tulsa (8-4)
- The Golden Hurricanes got a ranked win earlier this week by downing No. 30 Texas Tech, 4-3, at home.
- Lian Benedijic leads the team in singles wins while No. 81 Martina Okalova holds down the top court. The perpetually ranked duo of No. 27 Martina Okalova/Vera Ploner is 9-1 on the season.
- The Shockers hold a 24-17 edge in the all-time record. The teams met two seasons ago with a 4-0 WSU loss in the AAC tournament.
