WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State women's tennis is hosting Senior Day versus DePaul at 11:00 a.m., at the Coleman Tennis Complex. A post-match ceremony will be held to honor our three seniors:
Marta Bellucco, Ting-ya Hsu, and
Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva.
Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow and the matches could be moved inside to the Wichita Country Club. If the match is moved inside it will be posted on social media and reflected on the schedule. Fans will be allowed at the match either way and masks will be required at both venues.
Shocker Notables
- The senior duo of Marta Bellucco and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva came in at No. 23 in the ITA Preseason Doubles Rankings. This is their fourth straight appearance in the rankings and highest appearance yet. They are currently 9-4 on the season and have a ranked win over Arizona State's No. 50 Ilze Hattingh/Lauryn John-Baptiste.
- Freshman Jessie Zheng leads the Shockers in singles wins with a 7-6 record at No. 4 and 5. Four other Shockers have four wins on the season.
- The duo of Ting-ya Hsu and Jessie Zheng have been productive at the second doubles spot, going 7-5 on the season.
Scouting the Competition
DePaul (7-2)
- The Blue Demons were on a five-match win streak before dropping its first match in Kansas versus No. 46 Kansas State, 4-0. They have wins over Creighton, Marquette, and fellow American member Cincinnati.
- The leaders on the court for DePaul are Yuliya Kizelbasheva (7-2 in singles), Aspasia Avgeri (6-2) and Alina Kuzmenkova (5-3.)
