WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State women's tennis concludes its home stand this weekend when they face Iowa State on Friday at noon and Louisville on Sunday at 9:00 a.m., in the Wichita Country Club. Fans will not be admitted to any matches hosted at the Wichita Country Club.
Shocker Notables
- The senior duo of Marta Bellucco and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva came in at No. 23 in the ITA Preseason Doubles Rankings. This is their fourth straight appearance in the rankings and highest appearance yet. They are currently 2-0 on the season.
- Jie Xin Zheng has won her first four matches as a Shocker. She is 2-0 in doubles with partner Ting-ya Hsu and has won both her appearances at the fourth spot in singles.
- Amber Hands made her Shocker debut last week against Newman. She played in the sixth spot and won, 6-1, 6-0.
Scouting the Competition
Iowa State
- Iowa State improved their record to 4-0 with wins over Colorado and North Dakota last weekend.
- The Cyclones are 4-0 for the third time in program history.
- Freshmen Sofia Cabezas and Miska Kadleckova are both 4-0 to start the season in singles play.
- The Shockers are 3-5 against the Cyclones. The teams have not played since 1996 and the Shockers are on a three-match win streak.
Louisville
- The Cardinals are 2-0 on the year after beating Miami Ohio, 7-0.
- Lousiville will play Iowa State on Saturday before they take on the Shockers on Sunday morning.
- The Shockers match at Louisville was the last of the season before it was forced to be cancelled. Wichita State won 4-3.
- Wichita State leads the series 3-1 and Coach Foster is 2-0 against the Cardinals.
