WICHITA, Kan. – A complete game shutout pitching performance from
Bailey Lange powered Wichita State to a 4-0 win over Creighton Sunday afternoon at Wilkins Stadium.
Wichita State (5-2) swept the Bluejays in the weekend series, outscoring Creighton 31-5 over three games.
Lange improved to 3-0 this season with her four-hit shutout. Lange struck out eight batters and allowed only one walk on the afternoon.
Neleigh Herring and
Sydney McKinney both homered in the game, but it was
Jessica Garcia's pinch hit two-run single that broke a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the fourth.
McKinney finished 2-for-3 at the plate with her first home run of the season, while Herring went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
Ryleigh Buck was 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored.
Creighton's best scoring opportunity came in the top of the fourth when they had runners on second and third and only one out. The Bluejays attempted a squeeze play with a bunt, but Sam Alm's bunt attempt popped up to Lange who then fired to third to complete an inning ending double play.
