WICHITA, Kan. – The SIUE Cougars scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to rally and defeat the Wichita State University baseball team, 9-7, Saturday, Feb. 27, at Eck Stadium, Home of Tyler Field.
 
Wichita State (1-3) and SIUE (1-3) are slated to conclude the three-game series Sunday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m.
 
Junior 
Garrett Kocis went 3-for-4 with two homers and three RBIs, while 
Paxton Wallace added a trio of hits, including a double, and 
Chuck Ingram doubled twice, pacing the Shockers at the plate. 
Corrigan Bartlett also homered in the game.
 
Sophomore reliever 
Aaron Haase (0-1) suffered the loss on the mound after giving up three earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts in two innings.
 
Raul Elguezabal drove in three runs and hit what ended up being the game-winning home run in the ninth to pace the Cougars.
 
SIUE reliever Noah Matheny (1-0) earned the win after throwing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts, while Braydon Bone picked up the save after tossing a scoreless bottom of the ninth.
