Men’s Tennis Heads to Denver for Two Matches

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State men's tennis is on the road this weekend for two matches in Colorado. They will face Denver on Friday at 6:30 p.m., CT, and UNLV on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., CT, at the Denver Tennis Park.
 
Shocker Notables
  • The senior duo of Marius Frosa and Murkel Dellien came in at No. 32 in the ITA Preseason Doubles Rankings. This is their third straight, and 12th overall, appearance in the rankings. The duo is 1-1 on the season.
  • Frosa paces the Shockers in singles with a 6-1 mark on the season. He has played at No. 1 and 2, and his only loss is against No. 49 Vocel of Oklahoma State.
  • Ray Lo is close behind with a 5-1 mark in singles play at the No. 3 and 4 spots
  • Luka Mrsic and Stefan Latinovic are undefeated as a doubles pair and picked up a win over No. 23 Oklahoma's Mandilik/Hotard.
 
Scouting the Competition
 
Denver
  • The Pioneers are 1-2 on the season, with both losses coming to a ranked TCU and Wake Forest squads. They beat Air Force 6-1 in their last time out on Jan. 29.
  • Senior James Davis leads the Pioneers with a 2-1 singles record, going 1-0 at #2 and 1-1 at #3.
 
UNLV
  • The Rebels are 3-2 with losses against No. 1 USC and a close one to Cal at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. They have won their last three versus New Mexico State, Montana, and Weber State.
  • Senior Eric Samuelsson was named the Mountain West Men's Tennis Player of the Week. He went 5-0 in UNLV's last three matches.
 
Up Next
As of now, the team is off for about a month before they return to face Omaha on March 3rd and Memphis on March 5th in Wichita.
