Kelly Takes Home Second Weekly Honor Roll Selection

11/22/2021 12:54:00 PM

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State redshirt sophomore outside hitter Brylee Kelly was named to the American Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday.

It's the second such honor for Kelly, who was also selected to the Honor Roll on October 11.

Kelly authored a record-breaking performance in Sunday's win at East Carolina, hammering 29 kills to establish a new program record for kills in a four-set match. She surpassed the previous rally-scoring record of 24 kills in a four-setter, established by Camri Zwiesler (at Missouri State, 10/2/10) and Tabitha Brown (Miami OH, 9/2/17).

The 29 kills also matched her career high set earlier this season at SMU on October 10.

In the first set, the native of Monee, Ill. had 11 kills, the most for any Shocker in any single set this season. She added five more in the second set, and then racked up nine in the third. She scored the last three points of the set to help the Shockers to a 35-33 victory.

Kelly also added 15 kills on Friday night at Cincinnati, giving her 44 total kills for the weekend on 113 swings (.257 hitting percentage). The redshirt sophomore chipped in 12 combined digs and five service aces.

The Shockers return to action on Wednesday night vs. SMU. First serve from Charles Koch Arena is scheduled for 7:0 PM and can be streamed live on ESPN+.
