LAWRENCE, Kan. - Wichita State softball won both of its games on the second day of the Rock Chalk Challenge by beating Kansas City in five innings, 9-1, and Drake with a rally in the seventh inning, 7-3, on Saturday.

Game 3 vs. Kansas City (5-13)
Kansas City scored one run in the top of the first inning off an RBI double, but the Shockers only allowed two more hits and no runs the rest of the game to shut down the Roos offense.

The. Shockers immediately responded by scoring five runs in the first to grab a lead they wouldn't give up. Ryleigh Buck hit her 20th career homer with a three-run shot and that was followed by a triple from Kaylee Huecker that scored two more.

Both sides were runless for the next two innings before the Shockers added another run when Bailee Nickerson singled to plate Wylie Glover in the fourth.

Three bases loaded walks were allowed by Kansas City in the fifth inning to increase the lead to eight and enacted the run-rule to give the Shockers a victory.

Bailey Lange (4-8, 6.24 ERA) earned her third complete game of the season by pitching five innings with four strikeouts, three hits and one run to earn her fourth win.

Game 4 vs. Drake (8-15)
In a change of pace, the Shockers took the lead in the first inning off a leadoff home run from Sydney McKinney, her first of the season. She added another RBI in the third inning when she hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Sydney Nichols to cross the plate.

Caitlin Bingham started in the circle and stifled the Drake offense in the beginning. She allowed only one run off two hits in the first four innings to allow the Shockers to maintain their early lead.

The Bulldogs managed to take the lead in the fifth inning after Bingham walked two batters. Lange entered the game to pitch and the Bulldogs hit a sac fly and a double to take a one run lead. Lange settled in after this and only allowed two more hits in the contest.

The game came down to the final three outs for the Shockers and they responded by heating up the bats. After Glover reached base with a single, McKinney hit her second home run of the game to give the Shockers the lead. The Shocker bats stayed hot beyond this point and the team would bat through the order to score three more runs. Two singles by Nickerson and Buck would score two and a bases loaded walk by Nichols, who also had her first career hit in the game, scored the final run of the game.

The Bulldogs managed a double in the bottom of the frame, but three straight ground outs forced by Lange ended any threat and the game.
