STILLWATER, Okla. – Wichita State was held to just two hits in a 5-0 shutout loss at No. 13 Oklahoma State Wednesday night.
Wichita State (11-16) got a leadoff single from
Sydney McKinney in the top of the first, and wouldn't get another until
Neleigh Herring's one-out double in the top of the seventh.
Bailey Lange went 6.0 innings in the circle, allowing five runs (only two earned) on seven hits with seven strikeouts. Her seven K's are the second most she's recorded this season.
The first run of the game didn't come until the bottom of the third on a Sydney Pennington line drive home run down the left field line to put the Cowgirls on top 1-0. In its next at-bat, Oklahoma State tacked on three more behind three errors in the inning to make it a 4-0 game.
OSU added one more run in the bottom of the sixth on an opposite field single to right.
Herring's double in the seventh put runners on second and third after
Ryleigh Buck was hit by a pitch, but the next two batters went down in order to end the threat.
