Shockers Extend Win Streak to Four

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. –  The Wichita State men's tennis team won their fourth match in a row on Saturday as they defeated the Georgia State Panthers 4-3, in Knoxville, Tenn. at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
 
The Shockers will be back on the court tomorrow as they will take on the Tennessee Volunteers at 11 a.m. CT at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
 
Benjamin Niv and Stefan Latinovic protected their unbeaten record as a doubles pairing when they defeated Quentin Coulaud and Bailey Showers, 6-4. This makes them 4-0 on the year in doubles. With both teams having one doubles win, it all came down to court three where Elio Lago and Orel Ovil won a close one against Steven Huynh and Patrick Lazo, 7-5. Marius Frosa and Murkel Dellien fell in a hard-fought match versus Roberts Grinvalds and Andrei Duarte, 3-6.
 
WSU struck fast in singles as Frosa got a quick victory over Duarte, 6-4, 6-1, with his doubles partner Dellien following closely behind with a win over Vazha Shubladze, 6-2, 7-5. With the Shockers needing one more win to seal the match, Alex Richards rose to the occasion coming out victorious over Huynh, 7-5, 6-2.
