100
Wichita State scored 100 points in its victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, Dec. 16, marking the first time since 1999 the Shockers have reached the century mark. It is only the sixth time in program history that a Wichita State team has put 100 points on the scoreboard. They are 6-0 all-time when scoring 100-plus.

LAST TIME OUT
Wichita State dropped its third straight game with a 64-44 loss at SMU on Wednesday night. SMU made the all-time series 5-4 in favor of Wichita State. The Shockers' 44 points were a season low. For the second straight game Wichita State committed 30 or more turnovers, making it 68 in the last two games combined. Mariah McCully did not suit up for Wichita State after sustaining an injury during practice earlier in the week. Maya Brewer replaced McCully in the starting lineup - her fourth start of the season. No Shocker finished in double figures for the first time this season. Seraphine Bastin led Wichita State with eight points.

SCOUTING THE PIRATES
ECU enters the matchup at 4-16 overall and 1-6 in league play. The Pirates snapped a 12-game losing streak after picking up their first league win on Tuesday vs. Memphis. Lashonda Monk does it all for the Pirates, leading ECU in scoring (15.0), assists (62), steals (77) and tied for third in rebounding (3.8). Monk is always near the top of the NCAA rankings in steals and that hasn't changed this season. She is fourth nationally in steals and steals per game (3.85). As a team, ECU ranks second in the country in turnovers forced, steals and steals per game and fifth in turnover margin. On the offensive end, the Pirates have struggled scoring, as the only average 56.5 points per game.

THE SERIES VS. ECU
Wichita State and ECU have met four times prior to Saturday's matinee. The Shockers won the first meeting this season to even the all-time series, 2-2. This will be just the second-ever visit to Wichita for the Pirates. Wichita State is 1-0 vs. the Pirates in Wichita. Wichita State will also go for its first regular season sweep of ECU since joining The American.

LAST MEETING
Wichita State and ECU met less than a month ago in Greenville, N.C., where the Shockers came out with a 61-53 road win. It was the first victory for Wichita State at ECU. Wichita State committed a then-season high 27 turnovers and shot only 33.3 percent, including 3-for-17 from beyond the arc. Wichita State outrebounded the Pirates by eight and was also helped by ECU's poor shooting at the free throw line where the Pirates made only 9-of-20. Trajata Colbert came off the bench to score a team-high 12 points and Mariah McCully added 11 points despite shooting 2-of-9 from the field. McCully was a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line.

ABOUT THE PIRATES
Located in Greenville, N.C., East Carolina University has an enrollment of 29,131 as a member of the American Athletic Conference. ECU returns eight letterwinners and two starters off last year's squad that finished 16-15 and 6-10 in The American. The Pirates were picked to finish 11th by the league's coaches in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Poll. Junior guard Lashonda Monk has been torturing opponents for three seasons now. She has been one of the nation's top players at stealing the ball, having already swiped 200 for her career. Head Coach Kim McNeill is in her first season leading the Pirates, but has a career record of 63-54 after spending the previous three seasons at Hartford. McNeill led Hartford to consecutive America East Conference Championship game appearances and three-straight winning seasons. Prior to accepting the Hawks' head position, McNeill spent 16 seasons as an assistant coach at the Division I level.

SHOCKERS MAKE AMERICAN RECORD BOOK
In Wichita State's 100-50 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, Dec. 16, the Shockers tied the conference single-game record with 36 made free throws, going a collective 36-of-45 (80 percent) from the charity stripe. That performance draws even with USF's 36 foul shots against UCF on Jan. 5, 2016. WSU finished one make shy of the top mark in school history (37, in 2005).

A SHOCKER WIN WOULD...
... make them 12-10 on the season
... make them 4-5 in conference play
... run their record to 3-2 all-time vs. ECU
... give them three straight wins in the series
... run Adams' career coaching record to 449-291
... make Adams 322-254 at the Division I level
... make them 374-233 all-time in Charles Koch Arena
... make Wichita State 608-693 all-time

A SHOCKER LOSS WOULD...
... drop them to 11-11 to begin the season
... make them 3-6 in conference play
... drop them to 2-3 all-time vs. ECU
... lower Adams' career coaching record to 448-292
... make Adams 321-255 at the Division I level
... make them 373-234 all-time in Charles Koch Arena
... make Wichita State 607-694 all-time

BEST DECADE YET
Wichita State's win over Grambling State on Dec. 30 was the final contest of 2019 and decade for the Shocker basketball program. It signaled the end of the most successful 10-year run in program history, as Wichita State compiled 182 wins over the decade, which included three MVC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, three NCAA Appearances, 12 all-conference selections and one All-American and WNBA Draft Pick in future Shocker Hall of Famer Alex Harden.

OH MY MARIAH
Junior Mariah McCully has been on a scoring tear recently for the Shockers. Over her last 14 games, McCully is averaging 14.6 points, including two 20-point outings. Her 15 games of 10 or more points this season rank first on the team and she is Wichita State's leading scorer on the year at 13.1 per game. The Shockers have three 20-point outings this season, two of which belong to McCully.

REBOUNDING IS THE KEY
When Wichita State wins the rebound battle, the outcome has been positive this season. The Shockers are 9-1 when winning the battle of the boards and 2-8 when they don't. In Wichita State's 11 wins this season, the Shockers are outrebounding their opponents by an average of 6.2 boards a game. In the 10 losses, they average only 33.6 rebounds and are outrebounded by 6.2.

OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN(S)
The votes are in. Wichita State women's basketball will feature three team captains in 2019-20 - senior Ashley Reid and sophomores Seraphine Bastin and Trajata Colbert. Selected by their teammates, the trio will be looked upon to lead the Shocker basketball program for the remainder of the campaign.
