FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Wichita State men's tennis team cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Drake Bulldogs to give them a 2-1 record at the Razorback Invite in Fayetteville, Ark. Sunday, at the Billingsley Tennis Center. This is WSU's third straight victory over the Bulldogs as they swept their meetings last season.
The Shockers will be back in action on January 30 as they head to Charlotte, N.C. to take on the Charlotte 49ers.
In doubles, the Shockers made easy work of the Bulldog tandems as Benjamin Niv and Alex Richards defeated Oliver Johansson and Matija Matic, 6-3, while Orel Ovil and Elio Lago beat Reid Jarvis and David Nyman, 6-2. The doubles match on court one was unfinished but Murkel Dellien and Marius Frosa were leading 4-2.
Wichita State continued their dominance in singles only allowing Drake to win one of the four matches that were completed. Yi Jui Lo claimed his first collegiate singles win over David Nyman, 6-1, 7-5, to seal the win for the Shockers. Dellien and Richards also claimed victories over Barny Thorold, 6-4, 6-2, and Matic, 6-3, 6-4, respectively, to help push the team to the win.
