1/24/2020 8:01:00 PM

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Wichita State men's tennis team hits the road for the first time in 2020 as they will face off against Middle Tennessee, Arkansas, and Drake at the Razorback Invite this weekend.

Time to hit the road
  • These matches will be the beginning of an 11-match road trip for the Shockers.
  • On this road trip WSU will travel to five different states over the next month before they play their next home match on February 21, against UT Arlington.
  • The Shockers will not be in new territory this weekend as they defeated both Middle Tennessee and Drake last season on their way to a 16-10 record.
  • WSU is coming off a dominating 6-1 win over the Omaha Mavericks.

A look at the Blue Raiders
  • Match date and time: Saturday, January 25, at 9 a.m.
  • Middle Tennessee is riding high after claiming the 2019 Conference USA title. This was their first time winning this title since entering the conference in 2012.
  • Head coach Jimmy Borendame is entering his tenth season with Blue Raiders and holds a 146-97 record with the team.
  • The Raiders are off to a hot 3-0 start to the season.

A look at the Razorbacks
  • Match date and time: Saturday, January 25, at 5 p.m.
  • This is the first dual match for Arkansas in their 2020 campaign.
  • Last spring, the Razorbacks finished with a 16-16 record and ranked No. 48 in the ITA ranking to finish the season.
  • Head coach Andy Jackson is in his seventh season at the helm for Arkansas and has racked up a total of 88 wins in his time there.

A look at the Bulldogs
  • Match date and time: Sunday, January 26, at 11 a.m.
  • This will be the first of two meetings between the Shockers and Bulldogs this season as they will meet again on February 14 in Des Moines.
  • Drake lost five seniors after last season so they will look for their young talent to step it up over the weekend.
  • Last season the Bulldogs went 19-14 and won the Summit League tournament to earn them a spot in the NCAA tournament.
