Wichita State softball begins fall play this weekend with a pair of home matchups at Wilkins Stadium, beginning with a 1 p.m. first pitch against Southern Nazarene on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The Shockers will then host Arkansas Tech for a Sunday matinee at 1 p.m. Wichita State returns six of its top seven hitters and entire pitching staff from a season ago when the Shockers went 32-24 and 12-9 in The American. WSU will also bring back redshirt senior
Bailey Lange who missed a majority of the 2019 season due to injury in the eighth game of the season.
Southern Nazarene went 25-30 last spring, while Arkansas Tech is coming off a 47-15 record and 35-7 mark in the Great American Conference. Arkansas Tech advanced to the NCAA Central Region Championship game for the second time in four seasons before falling to Central Oklahoma.
All members of the military and first responders will have free admission to Saturday's game. Both games will feature a 10-inning format and admission is $5 at the gate. There will be no advanced purchase available with Wichita State students able to receive free admission with proof of WSU ID.
