UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions swept the Wichita State University volleyball team, 3-0, Saturday, Aug. 31, in the final match of the Penn State Classic at Rec Hall. The set scores were 25-14, 25-14 and 25-7.

Wichita State (2-1) is scheduled to face San Jose State in the first of three matches in the Cal Poly ShareSLO Mustang Challenge Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. CT (4 p.m. PT) at the Mott Athletics Center in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Making her first collegiate start, freshman opposite hitter
Sophia Rohling tallied five kills, leading the Shockers offensively. Junior
Emma Wright added a trio of kills, to go along with a pair of digs and a solo block, while sophomore
Megan Taflinger and senior
Damadj Johnson each had four kills.

Penn State (3-0) outhit Wichita State, .474 to .026, and had six service aces and four blocks.

Serena Gray had a match-high 18 kills and hit .708, pacing the Nittany Lions.
