ARLINGTON, Texas – The Wichita State men's tennis team ended the regular season on a five-match win streak Monday, knocking off UT-Arlington 4-1 at the UTA Tennis Center.
 
The Shockers (15-9) grabbed the doubles point for the fifth straight match, and took singles wins on courts one, five and six.
 
DOUBLES
Orel Ovil and Andrea Caligiana fell behind early to Enrique Pardo and Eduard Simo of UTA before falling 6-2 in the second slot for the Shockers. Haru Inoue and Stefan Latinovic put the Shockers on the board on court three, taking down Miguel Cabrera and Alejandro Haven, 6-3. Junior duo Murkel Dellien and Marius Frosa, who rank No. 26 in doubles action, recorded their eight win in a row in the top slot, defeating Guanarteme Nuez and Mauricio Rio, 6-3, to clinch the doubles point.
 
SINGLES
Ovil moved to 11-5 in dual action, rolling over Cabrera in his second fifth flight match of the season, 6-0, 6-1. The Mavericks answered quickly with a straight set win by Rio on court three over WSU's Frosa, 6-2, 6-0. 6-foot-6 Latinovic competed in the sixth flight for the first time all season, and reeled off a 6-2, 7-5 win over Simo to give the Shockers a 3-1 advantage. Dellien took dwon Pardo in the first slot (6-4, 6-4) for his fifth win in a row and clinched the 4-1 win for the Shockers.
 
Inoue was up a set and led 5-3 in the second slot over No. 102-ranked Nuez and Stoica was up a set (7-6) and down 5-2 in the second before play was suspended.
 
The Shockers take a short break before taking on the American Athletic Conference tournament in Orlando, Fla. on April 18-21.
